San Joaquin Valley College in Bakersfield Presents Employer of the Year Award to Tasteful Selections

Visalia, Calif. (March 7, 2020) – San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC), a second-generation, family-owned private college that provides a career-focused curriculum, is proud to announce that Tasteful Selections has been awarded Employer of the Year.

Tasteful Selections is a family-owned industry leader in providing consumers with bite-sized potatoes. For more than 10 years the company has harvested and delivered fresh, high quality bite-size potatoes through year-round production. The company’s 670,000 square-foot packing facility in Bakersfield, Calif. was opened in 2015 and immediately found success providing nutritious potatoes to families across the country. With the new facility came a need to find quality employees, which included Industrial Maintenance Technology (IMT) graduates from the local SJVC Bakersfield campus.

“It can sometimes be challenging to find and recruit valuable employees,” said Maintenance Manager of Tasteful Selections, Eric Ranney. “We find a lot of benefits working with SJVC. All the employees we’ve hired through SJVC are dedicated and have demonstrated our core values and passion for world class operation,” added Ranney. “With the help of SJVC, we’ve been able to focus more on business development and less on recruiting.”

The SJVC Bakersfield campus offers accelerated career training programs for students interested in the medical, dental, business or trade fields. This includes career-focused programs in Clinical Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Criminal Justice: Corrections, Electrical Technology, and Industrial Maintenance Technology, which can serve as important employment pipelines to local employers.

“Many employers rely on us for providing the talent that supports their business needs, and we take this responsibility very seriously,” said Vice President of Enrollment and Graduate Services, Anthony Romo. “Employer partners have the opportunity to review our programs through an advisory board, engage with classrooms, and even design their own curriculum through SJVC’s Workforce Development program to train their current staff,” added Romo. “These businesses have an opportunity to get exactly what they need and an education partner looking to support their business.”
