We love to hear from our students post-graduation and thought we’d post one of our most recent success stories here. Congratulations to Matt! We are so proud of you!

I started my San Joaquin Online experience August 2010. Since that time I have gained a vast amount of knowledge, not only in my construction major, but also my academic classes. After twenty years in the residential construction field I decided to further my education and my career. My goals were to obtain my degree and work toward employment in a management role. With a set goal and determination, I have obtained both.

The road has not always been easy, juggling a full time career, family, and school has caused me to look into myself and my character. Dedication to all of these simultaneously has made me a stronger minded person, for which I am grateful.

A week prior to my graduation date I was offered a position as a residential site superintendent. The best part is the offer came from one of the top fifty builders in the nation and the one I really wanted to work for. I could not have done this without the support of all of my teachers, advisors, as well as some classmates. My success is a true testament that if you set your goals and stay focused you will achieve the dreams you have for yourself. This is the start of my growing career and when the time is right, I will return to school to gain a higher level degree and continue to succeed.

Best of luck to all who are on the path to success at San Joaquin Valley College!

Matt Miller
