Visalia, Calif. (Mar. 30, 2020)San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) is proud to announce new online Bachelor of Science degree programs in Nursing, Dental Hygiene and Health Care Management to help working professionals continue their education and advance their career.

“SJVC’s new online Bachelor of Science degree programs are particularly well-suited for students who are working professionals,” said President of SJVC, Nick Gomez. “It can position an established practitioner for advancement by providing them with skills and educational attainment needed to be a supervisor or manager,” added Gomez. “These new degree completion programs are specifically designed for students with busy schedules, a drive to progress their career, and a strong desire to learn more about their profession.”

The Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene program may be completed in 50 weeks and is designed for registered dental hygienists who have graduated from a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) associate degree Dental Hygiene program. Upon completion of SJVC’s Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene program, students will be able to apply current research and data interpretation techniques to identify and evaluate solutions for issues impacting the profession. The online program is designed for dental hygiene professionals who would like to further develop their career and expand their knowledge in leadership while learning how to critically evaluate and enhance patient-centered care.

Dental hygienists with an advanced education are eligible for more employment opportunities in the dental care field, including positions in private clinics. Completing a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene can also provide more opportunities to use leadership skills as dental hygienists are expected to know how to correctly carry out more procedures independently.

SJVC’s online Bachelor of Science in Nursing program may also be completed in as little as 50 weeks. The program is designed for nurses who have graduated from a board-approved/accredited associate degree Registered Nursing program and would like to advance their career. The program is designed to provide opportunities for professional growth and development as graduates will be equipped to utilize leadership skills and knowledge of the healthcare and regulatory systems to advance a high quality, safe, professional nursing practice.

There are several benefits of receiving a bachelor’s degree in nursing, from progressing skills to additional employment opportunities and a potentially improved salary. Many nursing jobs, especially management roles and other specialty positions, require applicants to hold at least a bachelor’s degree which is now recognized as essential for many nursing careers. It is also required for many nursing positions at hospitals and healthcare facilities. Recognizing the value of a more educated nursing staff, many institutions now require all of their nurses to hold a BSN, even for positions that elsewhere require just an associate degree. This practice is becoming more common, so a BSN is important to remain eligible for a significant number of nursing jobs.

SJVC’s new online Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management program may be completed in 70 weeks and is designed for healthcare professionals who have earned an associate of science degree from an institution of higher learning accredited by an agency that is recognized by the United States Department of Education and want to advance their career. The program’s curriculum is specifically designed to provide students with opportunities for professional growth and development including a necessary educational focus on leadership, management, finance and human resources.

In addition to these new programs, SJVC also offers an online Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy program for the working respiratory therapist who has graduated from an associate-level degree Respiratory Therapy program and is looking for career advancement opportunities in the field of Respiratory Care.
