San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) Sacramento
hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 16, marking the opening of its newest skilled trades campus. The event was held at the Sacramento campus, located at 8909 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95826, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The ceremony featured remarks from campus leaders and community members, refreshments, and campus tours. The Sacramento location offers career training programs in Construction Management and Electrical Technology. The event is open to the public.
“The Sacramento campus reflects SJVC’s commitment to expanding access to career-focused, hands-on education across California,” said Ron Gardner, Vice President of Operations at SJVC. “This campus is about creating real career pathways for people in the Sacramento region, and we look forward to welcoming students, employers and community partners as we mark this milestone.”
Students in SJVC’s Construction Management program learn to plan, coordinate, budget, and supervise construction projects from start to finish. The program prepares graduates for careers as construction managers, purchasing agents, and cost estimators, with an Associate of Science Degree available in as few as 14 months. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management is also offered through the Online Division.
SJVC’s Electrical Technology program provides hands-on training with industry-standard tools and technology. Students learn to safely install, maintain and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial and light industrial settings, including blueprint reading, conduit bending, programmable logic controllers and industrial electronics through courses such as Electrical Conduit Bending & Raceway Systems, Commercial Wiring, and Programmable Logic Controllers.
