Medical & Dental Programs
Clinical Medical Assisting
The Clinical Medical Assisting program at SJVC’s Atascadero campus is designed to teach students basic skills, duties, and best practices in the healthcare field. Clinical Medical Assistants can be found working as cross-functional members of a medical office team, whether it’s under the supervision of doctors or nursing staff. The Medical Assistant program covers several job-ready training, including:
- Scheduling patient appointments
- Drawing blood samples for medical testing
- Measuring vital signs, such as blood pressure
- Updating patient records and medical histories
- Helping medical personnel with patients exams
Launch your future in Clinical Medical Assisting by earning a Certificate of Completion in as few as nine months or an Associate of Science Degree in as little as fifteen months at our local campus or online. After finishing the program, you’ll be eligible to sit for the National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) exam.
Be advised, SJVC prepares students to take appropriate certification and licensure exams related to their individual majors. Graduates may qualify for other certifications depending upon location and placement requirements. The College does not guarantee students will successfully pass these exams or be certified or licensed as a result of completing the program.

SJVC Atascadero offers accelerated, medical and business programs, that can be completed in as few as 9-months. The campus offers a library and learning resource center, computer labs, student center, and a medical lab to support students’ educational programs and learning needs. It is conveniently located near several restaurants and a fitness center and is a short walk from the El Camino Real at Solano Avenue bus stop (Route 9).
