Aircraft Maintenance Training in Fresno, California

Our Students Work on Real Equipment, Preparing for Careers as Aircraft Mechanics

SJVC’s Aviation college — located inside the Fresno – Yosemite International Airport — has been training future Airframe and Powerplant (A & P) mechanics and providing the aviation industry with quality graduates for more than 20 years.

Conveniently located near both the 168 and 180, our Aviation campus works hard to make sure students know that they are more than another face in the crowd. Our new students quickly learn that they are now part of a family – the SJVC family.

At SJVC’s Aviation campus, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of clubs and events, including:

  • Associated Student Body (ASB)
  • Annual celebration of Aircraft Maintenance Technology (AMT) Day on May 24th
  • Barbecues to celebrate the end of midterms
  • Book drives to benefit the United Way
  • Food drive to help local veterans
  • and more!

In the Aircraft Maintenance program, students have the opportunity to work on both the body of aircraft and engines of all types and sizes. Equipment includes a model-sized jet engine called JetCat. With the JetCat, students get to run an actual jet engine and use real-time diagnostic readouts to troubleshoot the engine’s systems.

Our aircraft mechanic students also learn about electricity, fuel metering systems and sheet metal structures, in addition to hands-on training with propeller, turbine and jet engine systems.
