San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) Fresno, CA, offers career-focused trades and industrial programs, including an Aviation Maintenance Technology program you won’t find at any other SJVC campus. Our hands-on, lab-focused learning environments prepare students for careers in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC-R), Electrical Technology, Construction Management, and Aviation Maintenance.

Conveniently located on East Anderson Avenue near the airport corridor, SJVC Fresno is only a 15-minute drive to Fresno Yosemite International Airport. We serve students from Fresno and surrounding communities, including Clovis, Sanger, Madera, Selma, Kerman, Fowler, and Hanford.
Trades & Aviation Programs Available in Fresno
Aviation Maintenance Technology
Learn aircraft inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in a program designed to prepare students for careers in aviation maintenance. SJVC’s Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program in Fresno provides students with foundational skills and procedures in aviation maintenance.
As an Aviation Maintenance Technology student, you’ll learn about:
- Turbine/jet engine systems
- Propeller & engine systems
- Basic electricity & electronics
- Aircraft engine and airframe repair
Complete your aviation maintenance technology training and earn a Certificate of Completion in as few as 14 months. Graduates are eligible to test for an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).*
Students have the opportunity to apply for the SkyWest AMT Pathway Program. The SkyWest AMT Pathway program provides students opportunities to interact with and receive mentorship from SkyWest mechanic advisors while enrolled in SJVC’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program.
Construction Management Program
Construction managers regulate and handle building projects from start to finish. They prepare cost estimates, select subcontractors, collaborate with construction specialists, and ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety codes (1)
SJVC’s Construction Management program in Fresno teaches students to plan, lead, and oversee the construction process. Students can earn an Associate of Science degree in as few as 14 months.
Electrical Technology
Electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communications, lighting, and control systems (2). SJVC’s Electrical Technology program prepares students to repair electrical equipment and systems in a safe, competent, and professional manner.

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC-R)
Heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) technicians install, maintain, and repair residential and commercial temperature control equipment (3).
SJVC’s HVAC-R program prepares students for entry-level employment with hands-on instruction covering:
- Heating and cooling principles
- Electrical theories
- Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems
- Proper installation, servicing, and replacement techniques
Enroll in our HVAC training in Fresno and earn a Certificate of Completion in as few as 10 months. Graduates have the opportunity to earn EPA 608 certification.*
