A recent article published on career.org shows that the Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the number of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) mechanic and installer jobs to increase significantly through 2022 – at almost twice the growth rate of employment overall.
Why such rapid growth? APSCU President and CEO Steve Gunderson sheds some light there:
“HVACR jobs are in high demand across the country and cannot be outsourced, unlike some skilled occupations. The industry also offers good pay – average salaries are over $49,000, plus bonuses and overtime. But despite the potential appeal of working as an HVACR technician, the number of new entrants in the field is failing to keep pace with America’s growing demand.”
