SJVC Honors Teacher Appreciation Week

June 1, 2020

Every year Teacher Appreciation Week offers the opportunity for students and the community to honor the educators who have a major influence on their lives. This year students at every SJVC campus celebrated their teachers for their outstanding work and contributions to their educational success.

Mrs. Foss is so hardworking and always pushes us to do/be our very best. She never gives up on us and always has words of encouragement,” said a student from SJVC Rancho Cordova. “Through the transition from on campus to online, she’s made it as seamless as possible for us. Our Cohort is so lucky to have her!”

The greatest reward for teachers is seeing their students succeed, even in the most challenging environments. While teachers all across the country are still trying to prepare their students academically, many instructors who are used to a hands-on curriculum are having to adjust to an entirely new way of learning – online. They are trying to reach students who don’t have WiFi, who are struggling with social isolation, and who have sick family members or parents that are out of work as a result of the global pandemic. These teachers are working to make our students feel connected and have a sense of normalcy.

Mrs. Lamas has done a fantastic job transitioning to online school and still providing the education we need as medical assistants,” said a Clinical Medical Assisting student from SJVC. “She reaches out to her students if we need anything and has always been there to guide us. A wonderful teacher indeed!”

SJVC is a second-generation, family-owned college that has been working with some of the best local educators for more than 40 years. We know the value they bring to our community and the impact they have on helping our students succeed. These teachers and instructors help build communities and a brighter future for everyone during these uncertain times.

Mrs. Avina was always there to help whenever needed,” added another student from SJVC Hanford. “She believes in her students 100 percent and helps us achieve our goals. She’s even there when we were in a different class if we needed her!”

At SJVC we understand the importance of Teacher Appreciation Week and all the educators who help prepare our students for success. We appreciate their hard work and are honored to have them as part of our community.
