October 29, 2020

Happy Respiratory Care Week! We recently sat down with Theresa Cantu, Respiratory Therapy faculty member at SJVC Visalia, to learn more about the profession, what it takes to find success, and some of the cool things happening in the classroom.

Theresa, who graduated from SJVC, started her career at a 358-bed specialty children’s hospital where she worked in an acute care setting and later the emergency department’s care setting. She eventually became a core therapist in the pediatric intensive care unit (ICU) where she continues to serve as the clinical respiratory specialist for the pediatric ICU and emergency department.

Theresa shares some insight on what to expect if you’re interested in pursuing a career in respiratory therapy.
