Robby Nijjar (Respiratory Therapy Dean) and Bob Demers (Consultant) presented their research poster during the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) International Congress and Exhibition in Phoenix on 12/6/25. The poster showcases collaborative research conducted by faculty and students at the Rancho Cordova, CA campus. Rafael Antanesian (Faculty), Adam Dughi (SJVC student) and Edgar Cisneros-Gutierrez (SJVC student). The research abstract and accompanying poster were submitted to the AARC Open Forum Evaluation Committee, which reviews hundreds of abstracts from around the world and selects only those of particular interest. The committee validated the quality of the research and recognized our students’ efforts by selecting the poster for display at the annual AARC Congress and Exhibition.
“On average, only nineteen percent of the abstracts that are submitted each year are selected to be presented as posters; hence, you can appreciate that SJVC’s participation in this event is a singular honor. The faculty and students of SJVC’s Respiratory Therapy Program have earned an enviable reputation among the more than four hundred RT Schools in the United States.” – Bob Demers
“The goal of this initiative was to help students become comfortable conducting research in a collaborative environment. Traditionally, colleges focus on teaching fundamental concepts, with research primarily discussed rather than actively performed. We aim to change that paradigm by integrating hands-on research and application of key principles into the student experience. We are proud of our students’ efforts and anticipate continued dedication to future research endeavors.” – Robby Nijjar
