We are pleased to announce the expansion of our Construction Management program to two new locations — the SJVC Fresno Trades Education Center (TEC) and the SJVC Sacramento campus — broadening educational opportunities for students who are pursuing careers in the building and construction industry.
Students in SJVC’s Construction Management program learn how to plan, coordinate, budget, and supervise construction projects from start to finish. The curriculum prepares graduates for careers as construction managers, purchasing agents, and cost estimators. Students may earn an Associate of Science Degree in as few as 14 months, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management is also offered through SJVC’s Online Division.
At SJVC Sacramento, the Construction Management program joins the existing Electrical Technology program offered at the campus. At SJVC Fresno TEC, the program complements current offerings in Electrical Technology, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC-R), and Aviation Maintenance Technology.
“SJVC has a long history of providing students with technical skills that prepare them for careers in essential industries,” said SJVC President Robyn Whiles. “Introducing the Construction Management program at both our Fresno and Sacramento campuses allows us to help meet the workforce needs of California’s growing construction sector while giving students access to practical, industry-aligned training.”
Courses in the program include Project Scheduling and Control, which introduces students to planning and scheduling methods using the Critical Path Method and construction industry software, and Estimating and Bidding for Residential and Commercial Projects, which prepares students to develop accurate bids and cost estimates.
“Construction managers play a vital role in ensuring that projects are completed on time, on budget, and to design specifications,” Whiles added. “These programs provide students with the knowledge and leadership skills needed to manage the projects that shape our communities.”
