What is happening with the new alignment?
SJVC and our sister school, Carrington College, are making exciting changes to better serve our students. Starting this spring, healthcare programs currently offered by SJVC will move to Carrington College. These programs will remain on the same campuses with the same trusted faculty and curriculum—only the name will change. During the transition, Carrington College and SJVC students will continue learning side by side in shared classrooms.
WHY IS THIS CHANGE HAPPENING
This transition allows both Carrington College and SJVC to focus on their strengths:
- Carrington College will expand its reach in healthcare education and strengthen its programs in nursing and allied health.
- SJVC will take the lead in trades, technical, and business education, enhancing hands-on training for careers in these fields.
By specializing, both schools can offer more tailored programs, resources, and opportunities to help students succeed in their respective fields.
What is changing now?
SJVC campuses and trades & business programs are continuing as usual, with no immediate changes. We will be rolling out additional offerings at new locations. This transition will unfold gradually, ensuring a smooth experience for everyone.
Current Students
Why is SJVC transitioning all medical programs to Carrington College?
Focusing each institution on a core specialty allows for a stronger alignment of policies, resources, and academic support, ensuring the best possible experience for students.
What about the Trades programs?
SJVC has a long-standing reputation in trades education, and it is not slowing down. The following trades, business and technical programs will continue at SJVC campuses with no interruptions:
- Electrical Technology
- HVAC-R
- Aviation Maintenance Technology
- Human Resources Administratiom
- Maintenance Technician
- Construction Management
- Business Office Administratiom
- Information Technology
Alumni
Will my SJVC degree still be recognized after the realignment?
Yes. Your degree and academic achievements from SJVC remain fully valid and recognized.
How will this realignment affect the alumni network and support services?
Alumni services will continue—and may even expand—as part of the realignment. You will still have access to resources like transcripts, career support, and alumni events. Any changes will be communicated clearly with a focus on enhancing alumni engagement.
Can I still request transcripts, employment verification, or other records?
Yes. All academic and administrative records are securely maintained and accessible. You will still be able to request transcripts and other documentation through the same channels.
Will the SJVC name or brand be changing?
As part of the realignment, some branding updates may occur, but the legacy and reputation of SJVC will remain. Any changes will be communicated with transparency and respect for alumni history.
Will there be changes to how I stay connected with the College community?
You may see updates to communication channels, alumni newsletters, or event platforms. The goal is to create even more effective and engaging ways for alumni to stay connected and informed.
