Each of our programs provides students with the hands-on training and knowledge they need to be successful in their chosen careers.

There are many career options for a well-trained trades or industrial professional. If you enjoy working with your hands, then a career managing construction projects or repairing aircraft, industrial equipment, computers, air conditioners or refrigerators may just be the right choice.

To qualify to work in these competitive fields, you will need proper training and experience. As an SJVC graduate, you will hold a certificate or degree from an accredited college that is reputable with employers.

Trades and Industrial Programs

Each program is different, but at SJVC, all students receive:

Aviation Maintenance Technology

SJVC’s Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program provides you with the skills and technical knowledge needed to troubleshoot, service and repair aircrafts. The AMT program includes classroom instruction and hands-on training, providing the theoretical and practical skills you need to take the test for an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Students can earn a Certificate of Completion in approximately 17 months, or an Associate of Science degree in approximately 22 months. Prepare for a career in aviation maintenance with SJVC’s AMT program.

Construction Management

SJVC’s Construction Management (CM) program provides you with the skills and technical knowledge needed to manage residential and commercial construction projects. Upon completion of our associate’s degree program, students are trained to prepare competitive project proposals, supervise construction sites, and effectively communicate with clients and workers. Construction Management students can graduate from SJVC in as few as 14 months ready for the management responsibilities they will face on the job at construction sites. Electrical Technology

SJVC’s Electrical Technology (ET) program meets the standards set forth by the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). Students can earn a Certificate of Completion in about 10 months, or an Associate of Science degree in approximately 14 months. All graduates are eligible and prepared to sit for the California General Electrician’s Certification Exam (SJVC pays for each student’s first-time examination fees). In 14 months or less, you can gain a deep technical understanding of topics including electrical conduits, commercial and industrial wiring, and programmable logic controllers. Prepare for an electrician certification with SJVC’s ET program.

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration

SJVC’s Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) program prepares you for a career in the heating and cooling industry. Students can earn a Certificate of Completion in about 10 months, or an Associate of Science degree in approximately 14 months. Graduates are eligible to sit for the EPA 608 certification (SJVC pays associated examination fees for first-time test takers). Prepare for a career in refrigeration and air conditioning with SJVC’s HVAC-R program.

Industrial Maintenance Technology

SJVC’s Industrial Maintenance Technology (IMT) program provides hands-on training on industrial systems and equipment. Students in the IMT program learn how to install, diagnose, operate and maintain a variety of equipment and systems required for the operation of modern industrial facilities. You can earn a Certificate of Completion in approximately 7 months, or an Associate of Science degree in approximately 14 months. Prepare for a career in industrial maintenance with SJVC’s IMT program.
