San Joaquin Valley College’s Industrial Technology (IT) program is designed to provide fundamental, hands-on training on industrial systems and equipment.
Students will study and master the basic principles, applications, concepts and functions of hydraulic systems, bearing and seal types, and power transmission components.
Students Will Learn
Throughout SJVC’s Industrial Technology program, students will learn:
- • Programmable logic controllers
- • Motor control devices and wiring
- • Fluid power systems
- • Valves, actuators and bearing application
Program Outcomes
Graduates can earn a Certificate of Completion in as few as 7 months, or an Associate of Science Degree in as little as 14 months. Certificate Completion students may continue their education at SJVC to earn an Associate of Science Degree in Technical Studies.
Careers
Employers are looking for individuals who can operate and maintain the equipment required for the operation of modern industrial facilities. Troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate solutions are valuable assets to these organizations.
With SJVC’s hands-on approach to training, graduates are qualified to go right to work in a variety of commercial and manufacturing settings as a Maintenance Technician, Production Supervisor, Hydraulic Technician, Machine Operator and Plant Electrician.

- • Install & diagnose progammable logic controllers
- • Install & maintain valves, actuators and bearings
- • Operate & repair hydraulic and bearing systems
- • Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers
