SJVC is excited to announce the rebranding of what has been known since 1991 as the SJVC Aviation campus in Fresno, California to SJVC Fresno – Trades Education Center (TEC). The Aviation Maintenance Technology program will continue at its existing location and be joined by the Electrical Technology program, in an adjacent facility, with enrollments starting in November 2019.
In the Aviation Maintenance Technology program, students have the opportunity to work on both the body of aircraft and engines of all types and sizes. Some of our equipment includes a model-sized jet engine called JetCat. With the JetCat, students get to run an actual jet engine and use real-time diagnostic readouts to troubleshoot the engine’s systems. Graduates are prepared to test for an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license through the FAA.
In the Electrical Technology program, students can earn a Certificate of Completion in as few as 10 months, or an Associate of Science degree in as few as 14 months. All graduates are eligible and prepared to sit for the California General Electrician’s Certification Exam. Students in the program learn electrical conduit bending, electric circuitry and residential, commercial, and industrial wiring, electrical blueprint reading, and more.
