The LVN to RN associate degree program is designed for Licensed Vocation Nurses who want to take the next step in their medical career. This program allows currently licensed Vocational Nurses to transfer credits from their LVN studies to the required course work needed for the Registered Nursing program. Graduates earn an Associate of Science degree and are qualified to sit for the NCLEX–RN exam.
Application & Admissions
To be eligible for this program, prospective students must have a high school diploma, a current LVN license & CPR certification, and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher on all post-secondary coursework. Students have the ability to complete the core RN program in 50 weeks.

Prospective students must meet the following requirements for admission to the program:

Licensed Vocational Nurses who have completed all general education requirements at a regionally accredited institution may be eligible to complete the core program in 50 weeks upon evaluation of their transcripts.

Prospective students are responsible for providing proof of admission requirements and submitting additional required documents related to the application process. When a complete application file is received, the applicant takes entrance assessment exams, writes a personal goal statement and meets with the Registered Nursing Program Director and faculty committee for a personal interview. Final selection is based on points earned in the admission process.

Academic Information
San Joaquin Valley College's LVN to RN program is offered at the Visalia campus and is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). Classes meet twice a week on Thursdays, Fridays and weekends over the course of the 3 terms. During the last 2 terms, students participate in clinical rotations in 9 practice areas.

Class Schedule
Term 2: Thursday and Friday classes
Term 3 & 4: Friday classes for lecture and labs. Saturday, Sunday or Monday clinicals (1 day per week for 12 hours). A limited number of weekday clinicals may be required.
