SJVC's Corrections program prepares students for employment as a California Correctional Officer. The program is approved by the Corrections Standards Authority and includes both classroom and hands-on instruction in criminal law, evidence collection, crime scene preservation and criminal procedures. Graduates meet the minimum legal requirements for employment as a Correctional Officer and earn the STC certification.

Admissions Requirements
To enroll in this program, applicants must be a U.S. citizen and be in good physical health. Applicants must also pass enrollment assessment tests and complete a personal interview. Other admissions requirements include:
Must be at least 21 years of age at upon completion of the program
Must successfully pass background check (no felonies or convictions for sale/ use of narcotics)
Must possess a valid California driver's license
Must have a handgun with holster and fingerprint clearance from the California Justice Department
Must provide evidence of physical fitness

The Criminal Justice Corrections program is offered at most campuses including Modesto, Fresno, Visalia, Hanford, Bakersfield, Hesperia and Rancho Cucamonga.
Certifications Earned
Graduates earn an associate of science degree as well as STC Certification when they complete the Adult Corrections Officer core course. Graduates may also earn PC 832 Laws of Arrest/ Firearms Certification (POST).
