SJVC’s Pharmacy Technology program prepares you to work under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist as part of a team responsible for carrying out doctors’ pharmaceutical orders. Pharmacy Technicians assist in the various activities of compounding, distributing and dispensing of medications.

SJVC’s Pharmacy Technology program prepares you to work under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist as part of a team responsible for carrying out doctors’ pharmaceutical orders. Pharmacy Technicians assist in the various activities of compounding, distributing and dispensing of medications.

Students Will Learn
Throughout SJVC’s Pharmacy Technology program, students will learn:
- • Pharmacy law and ethics
- • Pharmacology
- • Computer data entry
- • Pharmacy science & clinical applications
- • Prescription processing
Program Outcomes
Graduates can earn a Certificate of Completion in as few as 7 months, or an Associate of Science Degree in as few as 14 months.
Students who graduate with an A.S. Degree are qualified to register with the State Board of Pharmacy to become a licensed Pharmacy Technician, and are eligible to take the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Graduates also earn Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Certification.
