Online students can meet their basic computing needs by using currently available, standard computers with Microsoft Office Suite (word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation software) installed.

If your computer can run Windows XP, it should be able to meet basic security and upgrade issues. Be sure your system meets the software and security criteria below.

Software

  1. Windows Update should be set to install their software updates automatically.
  2. Windows Vista is recommended for PCs.
  3. Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint applications) is used in the SJVC Online computer courses. You will receive MS Office with your first textbook shipment.

In the past year, computer security risks and threats have risen dramatically. It is important that students protect their computers. It can take only a few seconds for a vulnerable machine to be attacked and compromised.
