LVN and RN Training Courses Are a Great Way to Enter into the Growing Field of Healthcare

Health care is a growing industry in Southern California, and it shows no sign of slowing down. As long as the population of California keeps increasing, there will be an increasing need for heath care providers and nurses. Because of this growth, experts are predicting that the growth of the health care industry is moving too quickly for health care providers to keep up. This means that there is an increasing demand in the health care industry, especially for nurses. The two most common types of nurse are Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs). The difference between the two has to do with the amount of training, and the level of responsibility.

Licensed Vocational Nursing in Southern California

LVNs work in hospitals, doctor's offices, and other places where doctors and patients need assistance. Their main duties revolve around taking care of patients and recording information. This includes administering medicine, checking vital signs, conducting intake interviews, while recording the information for the doctors. LVN duties also include handling personal care which patients cannot manage at the time. This includes bathing patients, as well as changing their bedding and clothing. SJVC has the skills training you need to begin a career as an LVN.

Registered Nursing in California

Like LVNs, RNs work in a variety of health care settings. Registered Nurses are often in management positions, and are responsible for making sure all applicable duties are carried out correctly. RNs are also responsible for assigning tasks to LVNs. This means that it is the RN's duty to make sure that all the needs of all the patients are taken care of. Because of this increased responsibility, there is much more training needed to become an RN. Fortunately SJVC offers a LVN to RN program which allows for working LVNs to advance their careers and become RNs.
