Welcome Madera!

July 10, 2014

SJVC MaderaModesto was the last SJVC campus to open in the Central San Joaquin Valley – and that was ten years ago. Southern California has been the go-to for new campus sites in communities that offered the perfect balance of employers in need of well-trained professionals and residents interested in quality career education and training.

The newest campus, located in Madera, gives SJVC that home-grown feel that plays to the very roots of SJVC’s beginning, 37-years ago in Visalia. Madera is just 65-miles north of Visalia and shares Fwy 99 as their primary access corridor.

“I’m so happy we are finally opening another campus in Central California where we have, for so many years, been successful in providing our Valley community with qualified professionals,” says Mike Perry, SJVC’s CEO and co-owner.

The new Madera campus is 8,000 square feet of tremendous potential in the Madera Market Place business park, across the street from the Madera fairgrounds and with easy access from Fwy 99. The retail center is anchored by Walmart and Pak-n-Save, and its high visibility and natural foot traffic in the area make the campus an easy drop-in for those interested in career exploration.

Calls from Madera residents have been coming in for years, asking SJVC to consider their city for a future campus site.

“With our Fresno campus of many years, we are well established and have a recognized reputation in an area where we have the strongest footprint,” says Mr. Perry. “Madera’s growth is stunning, and they deserve their own college campus, especially given the number of students now traveling to Fresno from the Madera area.”

The Madera campus is offering Business Administration, Medical Assisting and Medical Office certificate programs with the option to continue studies toward an AS degree on the Fresno or Modesto campus, or the Online division.

The new campus’s primary building is currently undergoing renovation in preparation for the first classes scheduled to begin September 22nd.

Prospective students are already visiting the temporary office, near the campus site, and submitting applications for admission.

Madera is lucky number 13!  If you know someone in Madera County, tell them this is their chance to have a piece of Valley history – and an exciting career. Start it up:  559-302-1134.
